ADVANCED SITE FEATURES - eCommerce
If displaying multiple items, allow the user to sort by price.
Prioritizing decision attributes so that critical options (e.g., price or travel time) appear early.
Provide assistance or information to help shoppers unfamiliar with a product determine what the relevant parameters of consideration might be.
Show the user shipping costs before requiring credit card information.
Allow the user to remove an item from the shopping cart with a single click (i.e., with a Remove link or icon or a Delete button next to the item).
Provide visual feedback that an item has been added to the cart.

Do NOT call a Shopping Cart anything but a Shopping Cart

Do NOT require users to click a “BUY” button to add an item to the shopping cart

Do NOT force the user to view the Shopping Cart every time an item is placed there. It's better to use a visual cue, like a shopping cart indicator, on the same page.

Do NOT ask the user to buy other related items before adding an item to the cart. This is the online equivalent to “do you want fries with your order?” and is not only irritating to users but also disorienting. You can show related items, but don't make it as separate step with a call to action.

Do NOT require a user to REGISTER before adding an item to the cart. Do it after they are done shopping, integrate it with the buying experience as much as possible.
