CONTENT - General Standards
Language should be simple, without jargon.
Keep paragraphs brief.
Use the same word or phrase consistently to describe an item.
Write error messages in plain language.
Use confirmation messages.
Error messages should describe actions to remedy a problem.

Error messages should provide a clear exit point.

Articles should be time-stamped.

Articles should be updated regularly.

Where practicable, out-of-date materials should be archived or deleted regularly (i.e. calendar of events, outdated PDF reports, etc).

The site’s tagline should be memorable, reinforce the brand, and state the site's value proposition.

Make the first few words of a blurb important. Users tend to only read the first couple of words of a blurb, and then only read on if they are engaged by those words.

Visual breaks discourage people from looking at items beyond the break.

Content should make-up at least half of the page's design and preferably closer to 80 percent.

Provide a brief introduction to each section front on a site, telling the user what content they will find in a particular section.
