FORMS & WIDGETS - Error messages

Error messages should show three things:

1. The entry in error (it is OK to highlight the field in error)
2. What the problem is (as specifically as possible)
3. What must be done to correct the problem

Good example:

In the Salary field you entered: “y2,000”.
The entry contains the letter "y".

 Enter numbers only.

Don’t use codes or error numbers in your messages .
Don’t put an “OK” button on an error message.
Don’t display codes that are of no relevance to the user on an error message.
