PAGE DESIGN & BRANDING - Images
Images need to have width and height attributes for quicker download.
Make sure users know that an image is clickable; don't make them guess or scroll over to find the clickable part. Use text links below an image if you make an image a link.
People tend to click on photos. Make sure they link to an enlarged photo, story, or additional information.
Clear photographs of people attract more eye fixations.
With respect to photos on article pages, readers look at text elements before their eyes land on an accompanying photo.
Optimize the file size of all graphics on website to decrease load time.

Site graphics should not look like banner ads.
