SEARCH - General Standards
The search functionality should be accessible from every page.
Site should use the label "Search" on the Search button itself, rather than as text next to the button.
Where possible, allow refinement of search results (e.g., "search within these results," "add parameters," etc.)
Where possible, add relevancy ratings on the search results
Make sure your search function is easy to find AND use. Make the predefined search parameters obvious to users.
Users should know what page of results they are currently on, and which ones they have already visited by color change, underlining, bold text, etc.

Notify users if multiple search options exist (i.e. advanced).

Internal site search should bring back relevant results quickly with the user's keywords highlighted. Always note the number of matching results

Highlight the search query on the search results page
