Use case for "Athlete Finder" object   

Definition:
Module residing on the Athletes start page, allowing user to retrieve either a results list that populates the middle and right columns of the Athletes page
or if an exact match is achieved, a pop-up athlete profile page

Use Case:

 

 

 

 

Preconditions:
- user is on home page

User Action
- user sees athlete module and enters text into the following text-entry fields

- name (text box)
- nation (drop-down)
- discipline (drop-down)
- gender (radio button)

System Response
(see grid on next page)

Exceptions:
- Mispellings will result in a results page populated with clickable text suggestions for correct spelling.
- Name always takes precedence when combined iwth other sort criteria
- When gender button not selected: either split resultes display area into Male side and Female side, OR include gender as a column in a single table
- incomplete entries (e.g. correct spelling but not all fields filled out will be handled according to grid on next page)
  -  If user fails to select gender,  system displays small pop-up error message with radio buttons prompting selection - exception:  if user has typed in a "name" field then and no gender, system returns either exact match pop-up page or prompt page with links to alternative names
  -  If user selects wrong gender (i.e. selects women for a male-only discipline) system displays pop-up error message (which should link to correct gender) 
  -  If user select ONLY gender, system displays pop-up error message

Notes:
Consider possiblity of making Nation and Discipline a text-entry boxes that will auto-scroll as name is typed in.

if multiple athletes match a name: e.g. "Jones" - display prompt offering possible matches, these should be links that will launch the profile page

if no gender entered:
